Cardinal Institute’s New Polling Series Reveals How West Virginians Really Feel About the State of the Mountain State
Charleston, WV – Today the Cardinal Institute for West Virginia Policy is announcing its inaugural statewide poll, “State of the Mountain State,” conducted to determine how West Virginians feel about several important topics.
“With our inaugural ‘State of the Mountain State’ poll, we intend to take West Virginia’s pulse on the most important public policy issues facing our state,” said executive director, Garrett Ballengee. “Given the breadth, depth, and size of this poll, we will release the results on one set of questions per week over the next several weeks. We will release results dealing with PEIA and size-of-government perceptions on Wednesday, Oct. 24th,” Ballengee continued.
“We need to move beyond what decision-makers in West Virginia ‘think’ is important to West Virginians and instead talk about the reality of what West Virginians believe is necessary to move our state forward,” said Ballengee.
The State of the Mountain State covers several issues and will be released to the public in five phases over the course of the next several weeks. The poll will discuss the following issues:
- Week of October 22nd – Poll Release Launch & West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA) and Size-of-Government Perceptions
- Week of October 29th – Public Education in West Virginia and Education Choice
- Week of November 12th – General Economic Outlook
- Week of November 26th – Energy Policy
- Week of December 3h – Tax Policy
