Work With Us

Hello!

“Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads”.

Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of all West Virginians? Are you passionate about the practical application of freedom, liberty, and free markets? Does John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” get stuck in your head far too often? Does the idea of working for one of the best pound-for-pound, award-winning think tanks in the country get you excited?

If you’ve answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, then the Cardinal Institute for WV Policy (or Cardinal Institute for short) could be the right place for you.

Who We Are

Founded in 2014, the Cardinal Institute is a nonprofit focused on building what we like to call “The West Virginia Miracle.” To achieve this, we work on a variety of public policy areas including education, tax and fiscal policy, health care, and occupational licensing.

We write research papers, build coalitions, conduct polling and focus groups, and implement media campaigns, all to educate our fellow Mountaineers on the public policies we feel stand the best chance of moving West Virginia forward.

The Cardinal Institute has many different facets in its day-to-day activities: fundraising, research, community outreach, coalition-building, communications/media relations, marketing, and operations.

Next Step

If you feel like you could be a good fit for the Cardinal Institute and would like to explore the possibility of working with our team, please feel free to reach out. Send us a cover letter stating your interest, experience, how you found out about us, and a sentence or two about how you could contribute to our team. We will get in touch if we feel there could be an opportunity for you.

Thank you!
